I haven't blogged in sooooo very long, but I really need to change that because I have lots and lots of gorgeous images to show you from the past few months. Things were crazy and hectic over the holidays, and I wouldn't change it for anything. I love seeing how families have grown over the past year, and I love meeting new families and photographing them for the first time. What I get to do is such a special thing, and I'm so happy that all of you choose me to capture such amazing memories for you. <3 I've been doing a bunch of lifestyle sessions in some lovely homes lately. It's a bit of a change for me, but I really love it. I love the challenge of a new location and finding different ways to photography people doing what they do everyday and showing how special the seemingly not-so-special moments really are.
We had to brave the cold winds for my outdoor fall mini sessions this year. I guess that's to be expected on the last weekend in MA in October! But the light was perfect, the foliage was amazing, and all of the families were great! I truly loved photographing this family of 3, and Little E was all ready to smile for me. They just played and laughed and showed how much they enjoy being a family together. This is just a sampling of their quick 20-minute mini session, and it was jut perfect!
They're here!!! My 2014 Holiday Mini Sessions!

I had met Hillary and her mom a while back when I was looking for headbands for some of my clients (Hillary is wearing one of her mom's creations in these photos, too!). We connected through Etsy and continued chatting over the past year on facebook, etc. It's been great getting to see Hillary grow from the little 8-month old when we first met to the sweetest little girl at two-years old. I was thrilled to get the chance to photograph her cute little face during our mini-session together at my studio.
July was so amazing that I didn't even post a goal list! Actually, it was filled with lots of vacation, beach, pool, and family time...and it was awesome! I still worked and got lots done (3 weddings!!!), but it was definitely less schedule-oriented than usual with C home from school and the sunshine calling our names. We took our yearly vacation to Provincetown to the most amazing little condo right on the ocean (a photographer's dream and where I took the above photo), celebrated the 4th of July with cookouts and fireworks, and had fun at C's first National Competition in Providence. Wow, when I think back to everything that we did, it just makes me happy!
I'm so OK with having no set goals last month, but this month is different. Yes, summer is only HALF OVER, but a photographer's busy season is officially here! Mix busy season with summer vacation, and I have to make sure every second counts when I'm working.
So, here's to the goal list, and may I accomplish everything on it.
BUSINESS GOALS | JUNE
- Blog 15x this month! <--this will be my #1 goal until it's achieved
- Get my inbox down to 1500 new emails (gonna try and take this in baby steps this month)
- Order new sample albums
- Choose new website design and start working on it
Choose outfits for Senior Model Styled Shoot!!! SO MUCH FUN!!!! Test out new Wedding Photography Workflow CLEAN OFF DESK!!
I did clean off my desk, but it's gotten messy again. Not as mess as it was, but it's definitely not as clean and organized. Must do this again!I've also been looking for a new website/blog design, but I haven't found one that I really like yet, so I can't cross it off. I also did a lot of things that weren't on the above list (Senior Model Rep Shoot, Senior Lookbook, New Senior Pricing Sheet), so I will let a few of those uncrossed off items go.
PERSONAL GOALS | JUNE
- Continue with my exercise and better eating. I've been walking for about an hour each night. The weather is perfect, and I love listening to podcasts!
Book all of C's camps for the summer month <-- um, yea, need to do this ASAP! Buy some new clothes for summer <--- DESPERATELY NEED!
I will say for June that I did pretty good with exercise and eating; however, July is a totally different story! Time to get back on that. One month until my sister's wedding! EEEK!!!
BUSINESS GOALS | AUGUST
- Blog 12x this month. Make a blogging calendar and stick to it!
- Order new sample albums
- Choose new website design
- Accounting organization
- Create a Progress Folder and Progress Sheet for each current client
- Update iOS on my iMac
PERSONAL GOALS | AUGUST
- Get back to exercising a little each day and eating better. Have to fit into my Matron of Honor dress in one month!
- Enjoy the last few weeks of summer with C with more pool, beach, and a couple of day trips!
And the next time I write my Goal List, the summer will be over :( (although, summer seems to hang around here in Massachusetts far into September nowadays). C will be back in school and back to dance class, life will be hectic again, and the days/weeks/months will fly by. Before we know it, Christmas will be here.
Mixing things up a bit this summer, and I will be offering some BEACH SESSIONS!!! Oooh, I can't wait for these! So many of my favorite things all rolled into one: the smell of the ocean, that gorgeous sunset and blue calming water, beautiful children and families, and photographs to capture it all! I can just see these printed as huge canvases on walls already! Why not add some summer sunshine to your holiday cards this year? Professional family beach photos are the perfect way to make your cards stand out from the rest...AND you will beat the holiday rush! How awesome would it be to not have to worry about your holiday greetings at the very last minute? If you're anything like me, you were running to the post office last year on Christmas Eve and frantically sticking stamps to envelopes just as they were shutting off the lights!
Send me an email at email@example.com to book your session!
So, this was my Mother's Day Gift, to myself, with a little help from the best daughter in the world. It took a little bit of bribing, but she agreed to get dressed up and let me brush and braid her hair for an outdoor photo shoot that I've been thinking about since winter. It all started with the shirt (or should I say, the dress, since it was a size 3T. LOL!). I saw it in the store, and I instantly loved the light yellow gingham and the white collar. The beret was found last summer in a vintage shop in Provincetown, and I've been dying to use it in a shoot since I laid my eyes on it. Overall, I'm happy with the results, and I'm going to make myself and album to cherish!
I was very honored and excited when Baystate Parent Magazine contacted me earlier this year to shoot the cover for their May issue! And when I learned that the theme of the issue would be "Celebrate!", I was even more excited because I knew that I could let my little model, Sienna, just have fun and truly let her sweet and bubbly personality shine! If you are out and about in MA, be sure to pick up a copy! Here's the magazine cover:
And here are some other fun shots from the cover shoot:
Everyone's been asking about these! Well, here they are; my OUTDOOR Spring Mini Sessions! With the sunny skies, longer days, and 60 degree weather yesterday, it felt like spring here in Massachusetts. It was a nice little teaser, that's for sure, because were are supposed to get more snow tomorrow. Thanks for the little tease, Mother Nature! But, Spring will be here before we know it, and the flowers will be blooming along with the fields of green grass that are perfect for outdoor spring photos.
I've decided to offer two days of mini sessions this year. I've found that those with smaller children sometimes prefer the weekday sessions, while adults and those wanting family photos prefer the weekend session. As usual, the location will be determined at a later date and emailed to all those participating.
Please email me to book your session or if you have any questions at all. firstname.lastname@example.org
So, you guys know that I do very few mini sessions each year. I offer them outdoors in the Spring and Fall, but I've also decided to offer two sets of indoor mini photo sessions per year: Christmas and one other holiday. This year I've decided to go with Easter as the second indoor holiday photo session! Can you say bunnies and pastels? :) What's so great about mini sessions? Well, first, they're perfect for when you don't need a full hour session. You may have recently had a full session with me, but you just want to update a few photos around your home or capture a milestone in your child's life (toothless grin!). Second, they're short and sweet, which is perfect for the attention spans of little children. Third, mini sessions are also a great excuse to get your kids dressed up and have those special holiday photos taken. You only need a handful of poses, and you can print as many as you like to give to friends and family.
And a few more that we captured during my daughter's Easter mini session:
